Join us for this in-person presentation as Peerless Rockville and the Glenview Mansion Speaker Series hosts “History and Stained Glass of Jerusalem-Mt. Pleasant Church.” Chiquita Sorrels, historian of Jerusalem-Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, will deliver an illustrated presentation that explores the church’s history with a focus on its stained-glass windows. Jerusalem - Mt. Pleasant is one of the oldest active churches in Rockville. Discover how the church evolved from its founding in 1835 with a racially mixed congregation to an all Black congregation after the Civil War. In the 20th century the congregation added the stained glass windows memorializing individuals and organizations in the community.
