Sugarmaker, Logger, Mechanic & Farmer

Jobs

elmore rd, Worcester VT

Description

Rugged Ridge Forest is looking for a dynamic person to join our team. Our primary products are Maple Syrup and Firewood. We burn wood to make extremely high quality wood-fired, organic maple syrup. We are growing our local firewood business as we improve and expand our sugarbush. Those familiar with farming and logging know that no two days are the same, and flexibility and dynamic problem solving skills are the cornerstone of what we have going on. We try and tap starting January 1st, cut wood when the ground freezes, make syrup during mud season, cut and deliver wood in the dry of summer and fall. In between it all we are plumbing in the sugar shack, repairing our downed equipment, expanding our sugarbush, and building on the farm infrastructure. For most folks, this job would sound ridiculous in its breadth and difficulty, both physically and intellectually, but if farming and working in the forest are in your blood and who you are, then this job is for you. We also understand that no two folks lives and responsibilities are the same, and so are as flexible as we can be with scheduling, so long as it works for both parties. Definitely willing to train the right person, however the more skills you bring to the table, the more we can compensate you out of the gate. Someone with the basic sugaring skills looking to help us make maple syrup this season, the base salary is 17 and up, depending on experience and abilities. This position would be for January to May, roughly 40 hours a week with some flexibility. When the sap is running expect the work week to include some weekends and evenings. Someone who is excited about getting into it and becoming a dynamic problem solver on our team, has mechanical aptitude, can operate heavy equipment, fabricate, log, lay out a sugarbush, etc, base pay is 23 and up, depending on how much you can bring to the table. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing if this could be a good fit for us both. Check us out at www.ruggedridgeforest.com
