This year we’ll celebrate coming together with a traditional Appalachian dinner served at the Historic Garrott’s Stonewall House, Gallatin, TN. During An Appalachian Christmas Dinner, guests will feast on an authentic Appalachian dinner complete with Pork Loin, Sweet Potatoes - mashed, Green Beans, Corn Muffin , Tea and authentic Appalachian storyteller, and live music! Storytelling will be provided by Cindy Hinton Church. Cindy Hinton Church is a native Tennessean- born and raised in Clarksville until marrying an army aviator more than four decades ago took her away from all that. She has lived in such exotic locations as South Korea, Germany and LA - lower Alabama. She moved to Hendersonville more than 10 years ago fulfilling a life goal of having almost unlimited access to her grandsons. Cindy appeared on stage at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center as a cast member of “Listen to Your Mother” reading an original story. Her short stories have been included in an award-winning compilation. She uses her storytelling to promote her unique world view and to save money on therapy. Music will be provided by Susie Monick and Joe Collins. Joe Collins : As a songwriter Joe Collins has had songs recorded by Rascal Flatts, Lee Brice, Randy Travis, Billy Ray Cyrus, Kenny Rogers, Eric Church, Chris Ledoux, Andy Griggs, Cletus T Judd, Confederate Railroad, Dixiana, The Whites, Jett Williams, Deryl Dodd, Kacey Jones, Margo Smith, Randy Kohrs, Dallas Smith and many others. As a keyboard player Joe spent years traveling the country and the world performing with Tom T Hall. He also did stints with Michael White, Rodney Atkins, Paulette Carlson and many others. He was a member of The Drifting Cowboys (for years alongside legendary steel guitar player Don Helms) performing with Jett Williams. Joe is also a founding and long time member of the vocal trio Phillybilly with fellow songwriters Rich Fagan and Kacey Jones. And his newest band project as a member of Holly Wood and the Extras. Susie Monick: Susie was the founding member of Buffalo Gals, the first all girl Bluegrass Band in the 1970s. She has been a ballet dancer since age four and studied with George Balanchine in New York City. Her album "Melting Pots" is hailed as the first jazz banjo album. She played and recorded with Richard Dobson and State of the Heart, Vassar Clements, Woody Herman, Townes Van Zandt, Josie Kuhn, Donna Frost, Doug Dillard, and Ginger Boatwright. Her Grand Ole Opry debut was with Nanci Griffith and The Blue Moon Orchestra. Susie fronts her own band Holly Wood And The Extras. She plays banjo, mandolin, and button accordion. As an actor, Susie was the lead in the 48 Hour Film Festival short film "Miracle on Juneteeth" which won the Audience Favorite award. She has appeared in several music videos and movies. As a true Renaissance Woman, Susie also paints with watercolors and makes clay sculptures. This event benefits: Sumner County Museum The Sumner County Museum began in the 1970’s with the vision of John Garrott, a local businessman who also has the love and knowledge of history of the county. Their mission is to make the history of Sumner County meaningful and attractive to a broad audience by collecting, studying, exhibiting, and interpreting through educational programming, special exhibits, publications and research.
