The Little League Western Region welcomes you to the first-ever youth outreach clinic. Those aged 11-18 you want to get started umpiring will have an opportunity to learn from skilled instructors, many of whom have umpired in regional and even Little League World Series games.
The clinic will be Friday, January 20 and Saturday, January 21.
The clinic will begin Friday night with an exciting welcome event, followed by an all-day training on Saturday.
All youth are welcome. Prior umpiring experience is not required.
Friday night check-in will begin at Rocklin High School at 5:30pm, with the event going from 6-8. Saturday's events will take place at the Rocklin Little League fields starting at 8am and running until 4pm. Lunch on Saturday is included for all participants.
Attendance at the Friday event is mandatory for all participants. Check-in will not be available on Saturday.
All youth attending the event should wear baseball or umpire pants and comfortable athletic shoes. Please do not wear cleats or spikes. All participants will be provided with an event t-shirt and hat on Friday to be worn on Saturday. Particpants should bring a glove and water. If you have an umpire mask or helmet and an indicator, please bring those as well, but these are not required.
On Saturday, you will learn how to work both behind the plate and on the bases through a series of drills. You will learn skills based on the training the Western Region provides for its umpires prior to working regional and World Series games, which in turn is based on the same training provided at the professional umpire schools used to prepare MLB umpires.
Tickets for the event are $25, which includes a t-shirt, hat, and lunch.
If you have any questions, please contact Rocklin Little League's Umpire-in-Chief Rob Huddleston at [email protected].
We look forward to seeing you in January!
