Come out for a relaxing, low key, no pressure Intuitive Plein Air/ Nature Painting session where we’ll allow the brush to be a direct conduit for emotion and environment. Taking in the beautiful landscapes of the Joshua Tree Retreat Center campus. Using our Plein Air / Nature Painting experiences as a way to inform daily life and/ or your art practice. ALL AGES & LEVELS WELCOME FEES: $5 - $33 (SLIDING SCALE) If you do not have supplies please let the instructor know ahead of time. About the instructor: Vanessa Ehecatl Santos is an Interdisciplinary Indigenous Disabled Artist (Sculptor, Ceramicist, Textile, Illustration, Painter and Printer), All Ages Art and Eco-Arts Educator, Nature Educator, Writer and Environmental Justice Advocate that has been in practice for over 20 years. They have published written work thru Painwise Press (Mayan A.I.), Nuerofuzzy Press Taxonomy Press and Eco-Crips Zine. Vanessa, also known as the project ‘Ancient Pocket’ ancientpocket.com runs an all ages Experimental Arts and Ecology Unschool called T.H.E.A. terraheavenecoarts.com and co-curated a Quarterly Outdoor Art Exhibition in Los Angeles seraphimdream.com . Specializing in Indigenous Esoteric Studies (descending from a line of Black Mexica, Yaqui, Apache and Hopi ancestors) they are a Minister of Public Ceremony, a certified Reiki Master, Auto-Immune Herbalist and Bio-dynamic Bee-keeper, Bio-dynamic Farmer and Akashic Tarot Reader. Most recently, Vanessa has displayed artworks at The Beatnik ‘QueerRated’ in Joshua Tree CA, @ HDTS Headquarters ‘Parallel Programs for The Seekers’ in Yucca Valley/ CA, Flowerhead Gallery in Los Angeles/ CA and has served as a traveling Altar installation maker throughout CA’s High Desert, the PacNW and MW. Their theology focuses on the internal world in relationship to the external and sees no distinction between the spheres of these realms.
