Skill level: Beginner Prerequisite skills: None Do you want an entry-level lesson on sewing and garment construction? Do you have a sewing machine but are uncertain how to use it? Join us for a hands-on introductory course that will teach you the foundational skills needed to construct simple textile items including home goods and apparel. This class is perfect for the aspiring sewist who is curious to try sewing or the self-taught sewist who would like to increase their knowledge and technical skill set. Only 5 places! Students will work on Janome HD-3000 and School Mate 7330 straight-stitch home sewing machines and Janome and Babylock home sergers. Students will: Cut and sew a throw pillow,Learn sewing vocabulary, including sewing machine parts and apparel construction terminology;Learn how to thread and operate a conventional sewing machine, including trouble-shooting common issues;Receive instruction on how to read a commercial sewing pattern;Learn basic techniques to create sewn products, including how to pin and cut fabric and order of operations for construction; andReceive a complimentary Rightfully Sewn sewing pattern for a throw pillow to continue sewing at home.A shopping list will be provided for students to purchase supplies ahead of class. Masks will be required for the duration of class.
