Description
Hi I’m James Fredrickson. I’m a FAVS major and Photo minor at George Mason. For my GMU documentary photography class’ final project I’m looking for people that have worked retail / underpaid service industry jobs within the last 2 years (or currently) and didn’t like it and felt underpaid and are comfortable letting me take a portrait of them outside of the establishment (it doesn’t have to be the exact location you worked at if it’s a chain, we can also take the portrait anywhere if you don’t want to disclose where you worked). Also if you are comfortable with it possibly hold up a small paper sign that says the $ per hour amount you were paid. The goal is to bring more awareness and discussion about Virginia’s minimum wage.
Happy to take a few regular portraits for you in exchange for helping with this! The photoshoot itself would take no more than 15 mins. Thank you! Feel free to reach out directly at
or for any questions
