Description

This event will be on Zoom and is part of the "Rhythms of Wellness Program" hosted by the Women's Drum Center. Please go to their website to register: Overview of the Virtual Session: Opening: Shake It Off Before inviting in positivity and relaxation, it is helpful to shake off any excess tension, pressure, and/or frustration you may be feeling. As we move our bodies to “shake it off”, the wonderful sounds of drumming will help us release negativity and prepare us for the guided relaxation training session. Breathing Exercise: Soothing Rhythm This breathing technique will help you find your own soothing, comforting rhythm. Calming Progressive Muscle Relaxation Tensing and releasing different muscle groups can bring about a deep state of relaxation. This technique is great for settling into sleep as well as relieving stress during the day. Imagery-Based Muscle Relaxation: Warming and Cooling Sensations This muscle relaxation invites you to imagine both a warm, golden, healing light and a cool, blue, soothing gel to relax and comfort your body as well as calm your mind. Your imagination can be an empowering tool for managing stress and promoting healing. Guided Imagery: Wisdom and Support What if you could visit with a kind, wise, compassionate being who can answer your questions and send loving, healing energy to your heart? During this guided imagery, you will imagine going to a safe, peaceful place where you will meet a being of great wisdom and love who will answer your questions and offer support. Meditation on Loving Kindness This loving-kindness meditation invites us to recognize the goodness within ourselves and others. When we are stressed, we tend to focus on shortcomings, but it is important to also acknowledge the good things we do. This meditation invites you to imagine that goodness as a beautiful stream of light pouring out of your heart, surrounding people in loving kindness. Closing: Joyful Sounds Once we end the loving kindness meditation, there will be a joyful Native American flute to close the session with uplifting, healing energy! Suggested items for the session: comfortable clothing, a comfortable seat, and a warm beverage Registration: Here is the link to register for this Women's Drum Center event: Please note, all virtual class sessions require attendees to register and prepay online. The Zoom link will be sent 24 hours prior to the beginning of the session. Please email us with any questions.
