Embrace the winter weather on this 1.8 mile loop trail that maintains a rustic, natural feel while enjoying the scenery and beautiful St. Croix landscape. At the start of the hike, you can choose your own adventure: Opt for a more briskly paced loopOr an interpretive stroll with observational stops discussing prairie and savanna vegetation, some of the small sun-loving plants found in this segment, management practices, and other unique features of this watershed landscapeThis event is being co-hosted by Wild Rivers Conservancy and Standing Cedars Community Land Conservancy. Standing Cedars Community Land Conservancy is a nonprofit organization led by a diverse group of St. Croix Valley residents. We are rooted in the community, and committed to protecting land for the people, as well as the environment, of the Lower St. Croix River Valley. Cost: Free Vehicle Admission: None Hike Length: 1.8 miles Hike Difficulty: Good for beginners, with some uneven terrain Bathrooms: None Recommended items to bring/wear: Long pants and layers (base layer, mid-layer, snow pants)Upper body layers like a long-sleeved shirt and jacket (moisture-wicking fabric is always a plus)Insulated shoes or boots with tractionHat or beanieGloves or mittensSnowshoes (optional)Hiking poles (optional)Traction cleats, such as Yak Tracks (optional)Adequate waterCancelation Information: For the safety of participants and staff, this program may be canceled due to inclement weather or a temperature of 0 degrees or below.
