Like stained glass, it’s how the pieces and colors fit together that truly makes us beautiful.”-Adriana Law, Falling for a Bentley Like a beautiful oil painting, we forget to see the whole picture. We move too close and focus too much on the impurities in the paint, the cracks left when it dries and the murkiness of the shapes it’s trying to form. But if we just step back, we can learn to appreciate the entirety of the painting. It’s imperfect, yes, but not when part of the whole. Similarly, we may perceive others to “have it together” — but deep down they could be struggling with their own insecurities. As artists, we choose to be vulnerable and acknowledge our flaws, we heal. We grow. Yes, we all put on armor. Those broken pieces are better off deep inside where they can’t be shattered any further. But taking the first step to becoming more aware leads to better understanding and growth. We not only start the process of healing ourselves but also help others do the same. In a sense, we are all a little broken inside. To be vulnerable is to show our weakest self, and to trust that others won’t hurt us when we open up to them. We’re all broken people — it’s a normal part of being human. And that’s imperfectly okay. (https://medium.com/.../were-all-broken-inside-e56b54b5890a) See less
