What's on Your Mind? It's okay to be honest. Because a lot of times we aren't! Mental Health is a constant struggle and one of the most prevalent issues within our black and brown communities today. So many are silent about their struggles with mental health because they feel they don't have anyone to talk to. Some people don't like the idea of therapy or cannot find an affordable practice to attend. Thus, as the Chicago Youth Service Corps (CYSC), we came up with a solution. We learned one of the best ways to improve mental health is to create a safe space for our young people to connect, have fun, and learn practical habits that will help them live a healthy lifestyle. Thus, What's On Your Mind was birthed to achive just that, connect the community with mental health resources and practices. What's On Your Mind is a unique event experience curated by the CYSC South Side Advocates to ensure a safe space for our youth to be educated, engaged, and empowered with the knowledge about mental health well being. We will have an open panel discussion about mental health well being, toy drive, games, food, art therapy, raffles, and surprises! During the open panel discussion, guests are welcomed to speak out on any mental health concerns or questions that they want addressed to help them navigate through life. THIS EVENT IS FREE OF CHARGE! Why is this event free? Because the Chicago Youth Service Corps (CYSC) at the Valentine Boys & Girls Club Division are a group of young Chicagoans between the ages of 16-24 who understands the importance of mental health well being within our community. We want to show more young people that there are resources for those silently struggling with their mental health and this is a safe space to be open about it! Most importantly, everyone will walk away with resources, connections, & support to achieve peace, joy, and mental clarity.
