Description

Older Black Americans are twice as likely as older White Americans to have Alzheimer's disease or another dementia. It is critical that clinical research studies are inclusive to best assure the safety and effectiveness of investigative medicines. For the first time, global pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company will be bringing a mobile research unit to Atlanta. Attendees of the Black Women's Expo aged 65 years and older will have the opportunity to undergo a free blood screening on December 17th and 18th at the event, to see if they’re at risk for Alzheimer’s disease and to potentially be enrolled in an ongoing clinical trial. These mobile research units were created to make clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease accessible to everyone, but most especially underserved communities and people of color.
