Description

Did you lose someone to cancer, a heart attack or Covid? Are you grieving the loss of a family member or friend? This free workshop, sponsored by the Temple Emanu-El Adult Education Department, was created for those wanting to write a dedication for someone who passed away. Barbara 's Writing Life Stories (memoir writing) classes are geared for non-writers. You'll be writing throughout the program based on guided prompts. They'll be "dripped" so you'll write for a minute, get another prompt, then write for a few minutes. Before you know it, you'll walk away with a finished 1-page dedication. You can voluntarily share your tribute at the end of the workshop. Then type it up at home and you've created something special to honor your relative or friend. How to use the tribute It can be a eulogy. Send as a remembrance letter to a grieving family. Wrap it in a box and give the tribute as a gift. Registration will be open soon. Registration required on the temple's website at: https://www.sarasotatemple.org/upcoming-events1.html For more info, go to http://writinglifestories.com or contact [email protected] Recent Classes Given: Jacaranda Library, Temple Beth Sholom, Sarasota County Libraries, Barnard College, Walt Whitman Birthplace Museum, NY Public Libraries, Baruch College Donor Luncheon, Yorkville Library, Women's Museum of CA, Lawrence Family JCC, UC San Diego, Carmel Valley Library, Dorot, and elsewhere! "I have taken a total of 8 classes with Barbara and I can say unconditionally that, in many respects, all of these classes have been exceptional. Barbara brings materials that help us go deeper and think harder about our personal stories. The energy is positive. Since we read our stories out loud, we all have the respect of one another as we find our "voice." I highly recommend working with Barbara on writing your life story. It's a game-changer."- Susan, student, marketing and business development consultant, former Credit Card Manager, CitiGroup and Advertising Manager, American Express Set aside 2 hours.
