New American entrepreneurs are pivotal to a bourgeoning and thriving U. S. economy. Despite making up just over 13.6% of the population, immigrant entrepreneurs made up 21.7% of all business owners, created 8.0 million jobs, and generated $1.3 trillion of sales in 2019 in the United States.
However, due to lack a robust entrepreneur infrastructure supporting the new American entrepreneurs, many new Americans encounter enormous challenges because of their backgrounds, such as access to the capital/financial markets, understanding business regulations and laws, navigating government resources for entrepreneurs, and encountering language barriers.
With this in mind, 1World1Mission, the City of Detroit, International Institute of Metro Detroit and Dragon Eagle TV, will be hosting as part of the Detroit International Celebration, the New American Entrepreneurship Symposium on Thursday, December 15th. The program will help New American entrepreneurs and want-to-be entrepreneurs overcome obstacles they face through sharing of information and resources. We will have three panels to help share the information.
Panel I: Inspiring Entrepreneur Stories: Panelists will be from different industries and backgrounds, share their journeys on how they overcame the challenges to encourage other new Americans to follow their American dreams.
Panel II: Providing government/community Resources Information: Share federal, state, and local resources, where and who entrepreneurs can contact for their business support.
Panel III: Build a DEI&B Community for New American entrepreneurs: Panelists will discuss how they build a diverse, equitable, inclusive organizations and the impacts of these initiatives to their organizations.
There will be an opportunity for networking before and after the panel discussions.
