GET THERE EARLY!!!  CHECK-IN OPENS AT 8:15AM The Black Men in White Coats Youth Summit is brought to you by WellSpan Health Join us for an exciting, free day of mentorship, hands-on activities and career exploration as we strive to inspire a future generation of healthcare professionals. Students in grades 7 through 12, of all genders and races, are welcome, and there’s a learning track for parents and caregivers, too. About this Event Black Men in White Coats (BMWC) started in 2013 in response to an alarming report that highlighted the decreasing number of Black men applying to medical school; and a medical workforce that is not representative of our country’s black male population. WellSpan is excited to join the BMWC organization as its first Youth Summit partner in Pennsylvania to introduce local students to careers in healthcare. Participants will engage in hands-on activities and network with healthcare professionals who live and work in the region and represent diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. The goal is to inspire all students, and especially Black male, female, and non-binary youth, with stories from real people who look just like them. Parents and caregivers will participate in the general sessions and a parent-focused breakout session track, aimed at illuminating medical career pathways and caring for a child’s mental health. **Lunch will be provided*** Black Men In White Coats T-Shirts may be purchased in advance at BMWC.store (allow 1 month for delivery) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ***By attending the event you agree to have your voice and likeness recorded and distributed for promotional and educational purposes. Furthermore, all participants under the age of 18 must be registered by their parent or legal guardian. Participants 13 years old and under must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or their designated chaperone while at the summit.
