The Fairbanks Wellness Coalition is happy to announce the fourth year Resiliency Conference! The theme this year is, Community Connection: Braided for Strength and the agenda goes as follows:
Monday morning the focus will be on self-care, vicarious trauma, and late morning we have our keynote speaker Steve Sawyer. Steve is the co-founder of New Vision Wilderness Therapy which started in 2007 pioneering the NVW Trauma Responsive wilderness therapy model. Steve is now the founder of First Light Wilderness Therapy following the same NVW model.
Steve will be speaking on Pe'ta (Fire): Igniting Resilience in Challenging Times.
"This presentation takes a close look at currently challenging times and how the human collective stress response is affecting us. We will examine fascinating human stress research that shows collective stress responses as well as our ability to sooth and calm each other. We will examine both sides of the collective story, stress response spreading negatively or conversely positively through our human connection. The presentation Focuses in on resilience taking a dive into participants uncovering their resilience factors that surround them or are hiding within them." - Steve Sawyer
Concluding Monday afternoon, there will be speakers focusing on addiction as well as a panel session going over levels of care.
Tuesday evening will be focused on holistic health with Trauma Sensitive Yoga as well as a topic speaker.
Wednesday evening will be focused on food insecurity with cooking healthy recipe ideas based on a lower budget, concluding with a bite to eat!
