Apprentices Wanted for Blues Band/Stage Play Performances
Meets
Snydertown PA
Description
Fun musical project seeks apprentice/volunteer. For years we've played blues, standards, light jazz, country cross over, some synthesizer and electronic music, originals for intimate and now moving on to large venues. We're still performing for local festivals, restaurants, music in the park, holiday parties, etc... but now we're gearing up for a college tour stage play that will feature authentic music of the early female pioneers of the blues and jazz. We're a 5 piece: Female lead vocal; Keyboards, Saxes, Bass and Drums, and individually we're played all over from NYC to LA. Now together, we're pretty tight and ready for some technical music theater performances. In our travels around Central PA, it seems like there's always a fun story or some kind of fun adventure or possibility right around the corner. Your opportunities would be: 1. Join a fun group, 2. Learn to run a sound board for mains, monitors, balance, effects, how to EQ a room, deal with feedback, work with direct boxes, set up mics., trouble shoot sound, etc... 3. Learn how to be a roadie and help us set up a sound stage. Yes, there is a proper way to wrap a cord. haha... How to be part of a working team, etc... 4. Get during-performance experience and references. 5. Maybe even sit in as a musician from time to time if you have a musical talent. 6. We get gigs at regular type places, but sometimes very interesting places and sometimes nice meals and tickets or passes are sometimes part of our pay. 7. You'd be part of a team and get recognized on our social media, if you want. We don't expect just one person to do all this... but here are some areas where we can use some assistance: 1. Set up assistance. We do most of our own set up and can use a hand with moving equipment, running cable, helping with sound balance, some assistance with the sound board and effects, as the night progresses, setting up and operating very basic stage lights and at the end, packing it all up again. 2. We can use help with basic videoing for social media. We can't do this while we're performing. 3. Sometimes we can use booking help, song research, lighting assistance, and ancillary stuff. 4. For the historical musical we're developing, there will be a whole host of opportunities to network and get creative. What else could be in it for you? A lot of fun and good times... but also learning opportunity. This is an opportunity to get in with an established family-oriented, drug-free group that is professional and got our act together. We will be writing for some larger grants and if we are lucky enough to get a grant, you could be on the payroll. We are planning for over-night travel to be very limited... but sometimes, resorts or college campuses are where the better paying gigs are. Our message is "Unity in the Community" and we want to spread good vibes to all through our music. We are an equal opportunity band, so old or young, whatever race, color, or religion, we're cool as long as you pull your weight and are willing to be a decent team member. Retired folks, college students, anyone with a good attitude and who can be a good team player may apply. Reply back with your interests and availability. If this ad is still posted we're still looking for the right people.
