POLISH & AMERICAN CAROLS PERFORMED BY THE LIRA ENSEMBLE The Lira Ensemble of Chicago, renowned for fabulous Polish music, offers three in-person concerts of Polish and some American carols – for the first time since the COVID lockdown. The concerts, performed by the very popular Lira Singers with the Lira Chamber Players, will include Polish carols in various styles and historical periods, including some written by Stanislaw Moniuszko and Witold Lutoslawski. CHILDREN, TEENS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS WITH I.D.s are invited to these concerts for FREE. Admission for adults is $30.00. The Lira Singers will appear in authentic, colorful folk outfits and will sing as an ensemble as well as in solo and duet numbers, and even with a bit of church-appropriate dance. The Lira concerts of “Polish & American Carols” take place in December and, following Polish tradition, also in January - at churches in the Chicago area:  Sunday, December 11, 2022 – 4pm in the CHAPEL of St. Ferdinand Church, 3115 North Mason Avenue, Chicago, IL  Sunday, December 18, 2022 – 4pm at St. Francis Borgia Church, 8033 W Addison St, Chicago, IL  Sunday, January 8, 2023 – 3pm at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8305 North Harlem, Niles, IL These 75-minute concerts of carols will include an English-language narration by Lucyna Migala, artistic director and general manager of the Lira Ensemble. The concerts will be conducted by Lira’s distinguished resident conductor, Mina Zikri. Pianist Daniel Szefer will perform a holiday- inspired excerpt of music by Frederic Chopin. The Lira Ensemble of Chicago is the nation’s only professional performing arts company specializing in Polish music, song and dance. Lira is known internationally for its superb artistic level and its dedication to Polish authenticity.
