Description

Join your Nebraska Forest Service and ESU 5 for a new professional development opportunity centered on a brand-new curriculum which connects little learners to the trees in their neighborhood! During this workshop, we will explore activities from Project Learning Tree’s Trees & Me Curriculum focused on early childhood students ages 1-6. Participants will gain new strategies to engaging "littles" in environmental education by connecting them to trees and forests just in time to for Nebraska's beautiful fall season. This workshop is occurring February 28 from 6-8 PM CST in person at Educational Service Unit 42301 Dahlke Avenue, Auburn, NE, 68305. Trees & Me is designed to provide opportunities for young children to experience nature, with a particular focus on trees and is an invitation to increase the quantity and quality of the experiences your children have with nature. It provides fun experiences to explore elements of nature, both indoors and outdoors. Participants will receive a copy of PLT Trees & Me curriculum, a certificate for 2 hours of in-service credit, and the background knowledge to implement these hands-on heads-on experiences in their work with youth right away! I have what I need at my fingertips! It’s been fun to bring more nature into my classroom and the kids are eager to learn more and nature! Phenomenal trainings! I learned different activities and ideas to implement activities in all areas of development and bring nature into my work with young children. The resources are very helpful. I recommend these workshops to other colleagues and friends! I love going to the Nebraska PLT workshops and utilizing the curriculum because it enables me to get my students outside while learning. Every time I go to one of these workshops, I learn a new activity and ideas to share with my students, even after 21 years in education. ABOUT THE CURRICULUM: Project Learning Tree® (PLT) provides educators with high-quality professional development, hands-on activities, and multi-disciplinary supplemental curriculum that can be easily integrated into lesson plans for all grades and subject areas to help teach youth about trees, forests, and the environment.
