Please join 99 Bottles and Sommelier Joshua Voytek as we explore the world of wine!
While Cabernet Sauvignon is often considered the king of red grapes, its parent grape, Cabernet Franc is underrated in terms of making fantastic red wines as well. Traditionally, Cabernet Franc has been used as a blending grape in Bordeaux alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (as well as Malbec and Petite Verdot), and is the primary red grape of the French Loire regions of Chinon and Bourgueil. While plantings throughout other parts of the world were initially centered around using the grape for making Bordeaux-style blends, wines made solely or primarily from this grape are beginning to be seen more frequently and reaching more recognition and acclaim. Whether you are already a fan of the Cabernet Franc grape, or are a fan of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Bordeaux-blends, plan to attend to gain a new appreciation for the Cabernet Franc wines of the world!
