Registration 8:30am-9:00am Presentation 9:00am-10:30am Title Traveling to Acute Stabilization: Blending evidenced based practice with resilience and hope Presented by Jack Register, LCSW, LICSW, LCAS, CCS, ICAADC, ICCS, DOT-SAP, BC-TMH Clinical Director, Spero Center at The Meadows Description Acute care is inherently crisis oriented. In this presentation we will blend the evidenced based practices for acute intervention with hope and resiliency. This is evidenced by the interweaving of strengths based and person-centered philosophies. Patients who learn to ”own but not become” their diagnoses are able to navigate the complexities of care more successfully. Presentation focuses on philosophies of recovery that embrace a growth and resilience mindset regardless of the etiology of the presenting diagnoses. A key component of the treatment plan is to build insight and reflexive capacity in the patient wherever possible. Objectives • Demonstrate an understanding of the unique practice issues in acute setting regarding complex diagnostic presentations. • Demonstrate the integration of solution focused and strengths perspectives in acute care through use of person first and strengths-based language. • Demonstrate how strengths based perspectives can allow a culture of learning and growing within MBH programs Continuing Education: 1.5 Continuing Education Credits or NBCC Clock Hours available.
