Re-Homing Lab/German Shepherd/Hound Mix

Bailey near Willow, Chattanooga TN

Description

Looking to re-home this incredibly sweet and well-behaved Lab/German Shepherd/Hound Mix. He is a young, intact male–seems fully grown but still goofy and playful, probably around 50-60 lbs. He showed up at our house in the Ridgedale neighborhood of Chattanooga with a collar but no tags and was clearly well-fed and taken care of. We posted flyers and notices on several local message boards hoping to find his owner. Apparently other neighbors had also taken him in recently and confirmed with their vet that he is not microchipped. Despite our best efforts we have not been able to track down his owners and have been fostering him for several weeks. We are hoping to find him a home directly without sending him to McKamey. Would be ideal for a home with pets and kids looking for a family dog. He has an incredible temperament and demeanor, is scared of our cat, and lets our 2 year old daughter roll all over him and yank on his ears without batting an eye. We would consider keeping him but our dog does not like him. She is aggressive towards him and steals bones and toys out of his mouth but he never retaliates. (Mind you, she is a 12 lb doxipoo and he could probably knock her over with his tail!) He loves to play and stays occupied with chew toys and bones. Skills: he is housebroken and we are working on crate training (he's doing great). He has been doing great sleeping in the crate at night and staying in it for several hours during the day while we are at work (he will also happily sleep in the bed with you and cuddle on the couch!). He knows “sit” and “shake” and we are working on “stay, come, get off, and leave it” as well as leash skills. Since he has a past of roaming the neighborhood, we would recommend a fenced yard or watchful eye since he is independent and prone to wander off. No rehoming fee but we are happy to pass along the new crate we purchased at cost. If he sounds like a good fit, please contact us to set up a meeting.
