Centro Cultural de la Raza 2022 End of the Year Posada Fundraiser Celebrating 51 years of florecimiento at Balboa Park We invite you to our annual Centro Cultural de la Raza Posada Fundraiser on December 17, 2022. This year we honor the 51 years of florecimiento at Balboa Park as a Xicano, Mexican, Indigenous and Latina/o/x-serving community cultural center. The posada coincides with our December exhibition honoring Indigenous Sovereignty and Indigenous cultural foodways. The Centro Cultural represents the continuous florecimiento of nuestro movimiento as a diverse yet unified community. Pa’lante siempre pa’lante! Your participation in this year’s posada will continue to support the ongoing work of the Centro Cultural de la Raza while highlighting the various members and groups artistically housed at the Centro. Your support will also ensure the Centro’s rightful place in the historic landscape of Balboa Park. Leadership shifts over the last few years and rebuilt relationships among the Centro Board of Trustees–including renewed partnership with the Worldbeat Cultural Center–have served to position both the Centro and the Worldbeat Center as integral components to the new Balboa Park Cultural District and the upcoming World Design Capital processes. We’re confident that our center’s mission will fortify what Centro Board Vice-President Maria Figueroa shared on the occasion of the recent opening of our newest partner institution, the Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center, “Like the florecimiento of the flora and fauna, the earth provides subsistence, fortifying our spiritual connection to land and place. Centro Cultural de la Raza in its historical connection [...] continues to be a place of grounding en la tierra y florecimiento for many who come through its doors as creators of multidisciplinary artistic expressions.” We hope to take the occasion of the posadas, where the community comes to provide warmth, support, and sustenance, to highlight the artistic contributions of those members and groups who use the Centro consistently and are committed to creating spaces where our community can thrive. Support la posada by attending our event or purchasing tickets for others to enjoy the evening. Your financial support can include purchasing a dinner meal ticket, raffle tickets for an array of gifts available that night, and/or participating in an art auction throughout the night.
