The Philip D. Lewis Center will be collecting toys that have a $30 value, dividing them into 3 days, and each day parents come and ‘shop’ for their kids.
Volunteers will wrap those gifts and send the parents on their way with gifts that they might not have been able to get without this event.
The ‘shop’ appointments are scheduled in 30 minute increments which allows them to shop for the children and then get the gifts wrapped.
Volunteers will help either with the clients shopping or wrapping or helping them bring the bags of toys out to their vehicle (some have 5 to 8 children) and sometimes there will be 3 gifts per child - that is a lot to carry.
