Special education laws provide specific protections for children with disabilities who experience behavioral difficulties, particularly if those behaviors lead to suspension from school. This workshop will provide an overview of the discipline procedures in the special education process, emphasizing best practices. Participants will learn about functional behavioral assessments, positive behavioral interventions, and manifestation determination. The workshop will be accompanied by a packet of materials including new Guidance documents issued in June 2022 by the US Department of Education. Staff development certificates will be provided Preregistration is required for this free workshop to ensure that we have sufficient materials for all participants.
