This dog is currently at GCAC on Furman Hall Road.
A shivering dog was found on a concrete slab at the side of a church building; in case somebody nearby is looking for him, the location found was at a church (Christ the Redeemer - Greenville), located at 118 Mason Street, in West Greenville, near Pendleton Street. The dog is emaciated -- the photos don't do that justice -- his ribs are clearly showing and his back hips are just bones -- and one of his front legs is hurt as he can't put weight on it; he has a scrape on his nose. He also does not have a tail (it was not docked -- the entire tail is missing).
He is male, not-neutered, and looks to be a hound/beagle mix. He had on an old worn collar, no tags. He is severely underweight but is a large dog -- taller and longer than a lab. He has been out on his own a while -- his nails are untrimmed. He had a very gentle demeanor and is friendly; you can see what a sweet, calm face he has. He was careful with the small children who came to him.
A big shoutout to the Greenville County Sheriff's Department -- they came within ten minutes of a call to them. They were very careful and gentle to the dog and loaded him into their patrol car to be transported to the GCAC shelter on Furman Hall Road.
I know that GCAC is overcrowded and frequently kills for space. But the only way for him to get off the streets and hopefully cared for was GCAC. If this is your dog please claim him quickly at the Greenville County Animal Shelter on Furman Hall Road. I hope that he can find "his people" -- either past good owners who lost him, or new owners who may want to adopt him.
Thank you to GCSO for their kindness and promptness for this dog.
