We are excited to announce we are back to convening in-person for the Eighth Annual Pathways to Law Summit, which will be hosted by the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law on February 10-11, 2023. The Annual Pathways to Law Summit provides an opportunity for law practitioners, educators and students to come together and exchange strategies, make connections, and participate in panels and other activities that help promote diversity in the legal profession. This year’s theme is Student Empowerment through Law and Civic Engagement. Day 1: Friday, February 10 8:30 am - 3:30 PM ( breakfast and lunch provided) Day 1 will be all about Civics! An informed and engaged citizenry is critical to maintaining a healthy democracy. Attendees will learn about the characteristics of effective citizenship and the tools to become civically engaged by identifying the issues you believe are most important and initiating positive and sustainable change in our communities. Day 1 will also provide opportunities for students to become familiar with the law school experience and positive transitioning along the pathway to law school. Also, educators and law practitioners will focus on best practices for strengthening the pathway to law.Reception 4:00PM - 6:00PM There will be a reception at the end of Day One, welcoming new Pathway Partners, presenting Diversity Champion, Education Pipeline Awards and the Ruthe C. Ashley Pathway to Law Scholarship. All attendees are welcome to join in the celebration as part of your day 1 ticket! Day 2: Saturday, February 11 8:30 am - 3:30PM ( breakfast and lunch provided) Day 2 will feature pathway partners, Cal LAW Advisory Board members, and others offering tips and best practices on how to successfully navigate the law pathway for students and educators, as well as skills needed to enhance the student and professional experience. Guzman, Dean of USC Gould School of Law Lou Correa, U.S. Representative for California’s 46th Congressional District Day 2: Nickey Woods, USC Gould School of Law Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Mary Smith, American Bar Association President-Elect
