Are you new to perennial flower gardening? Are you interested in learning “the basics”? Join us at this Darien Garden Club meeting as we welcome Dolly Swibes Foster. She will lead us on a refresher course and encourage new gardeners by sharing her wealth of experience and information. You'll learn all you need to start your garden off right and you'll get your questions answered! If you are starting a brand-new garden or renovating an established garden you will learn tips and skills that have been passed down for many years from gardener to gardener. Just some of the topics that will be covered: soil fundamentals, watering woes, best tools, limiting pesticide use, my favorite plants- what are yours? And the best tips ever! Bring your tips and questions to share! The presentation will be followed by our January General Meeting. The presentation and meeting will be in a hybrid format. The zoom link will be shared via Eventbrite emails closer to the date. Find out more about DGC here Dolly Foster, Landscape Horticulturist, has been a Master Gardener for 22 years, an Indiana Accredited Horticulturist for 20 and a Certified Arborist since 2008. For the past 22 years, Dolly has been presenting lectures on many gardening topics. She spent four years as an adjunct faculty member of the Joliet Junior College Agriculture/ Horticulture Department and 18 years in the Parks and Recreation industry as staff horticulturist for two park districts. She has been butterfly gardening from the very beginning of her gardening career. Her passion has led her to raising monarch and swallowtail butterflies for 15 years. Her garden at home has been a Monarch Waystation since 2011. Dolly also managed the Oak Lawn Community Garden that supplied produce to local food pantries.
