Fire is a natural part of our Mediterranean ecosystem and has brought decades of changes across the landscape and wildlife. Vegetation, animals, and even the weather can be affected by fire.
However, fire doesn't mean things are all doom and gloom! New plants are established, soil nutrients are recycled, and the Santa Monica Mountains get a whole new look.
Join park rangers on a hike across time looking at how fires have impacted our park. Learn more about ways our park is working on restoring these natural resources and discover ways you can volunteer and leave your mark on our park.
This guided hike is open to all ages. Expect rolling hills and uneven terrain. Be sure to wear sunscreen, closed-toed shoes, appropriate clothing, and bring plenty of water.
Meet at the main parking lot in front of the restrooms. Image/map shown below.
