Teacher’s anonymous is a support group created for teachers teaching within the inner city. As you know there is a high turnover rate in the city of Philadelphia when it comes to teachers. Why is that?? According to data from the “Learning Policy Institute analysis of National Center for Education Statistics School and Staffing Survey”, the turnover for teachers is high due to long hours, challenging work conditions, teacher burnouts, little to no support, focusing more on testing than actual academics, and low pay; but from my experience when you have great working conditions and in a respectful environment doing what you love sometimes pay does not matter. As teachers we lack trust, trust with administration, trust with fellow teachers, trust with parents, students etc. This group will breakdown all those barriers for first year and veteran educators. This will be an eleven-week program, that will be held on Saturdays and Wednesdays, from October thru December. This support group aides as a safe space for all teachers.
