Black birthing people suffer from pregnancy and birth-related complications at rates 3 to 4 times higher than our white counterparts across the country, the highest mortality rates of any developed country in the world. Black maternal mortality and morbidity is plaguing this city and we have a responsibility to educate the community and advocate for the health care we deserve.
New Voices for Reproductive Justice is launching a teach-in series about Black Maternal Health in Philadelphia- Let's Talk About Birth Advocacy- an in-person workshop designed to inform you of the disparity that is happening amongst us. We will explore holistic birthing practices to keep you safe and protected during your pregnancy and birthing experience.
These sessions are for all Black birthing people, pregnant or not, as well as their partners and families. New Voices is partnering with Reclaim Black Motherhood and FAWN to equip you with the information and tools you need for a happy, healthy birthing experience.
Join us at the FAWN Pantry at Frankford High School in North Philly on December 12th from 12 p.m.-2:30 pm. This event is FREE! Food and materials will be provided. Email [email protected] if you need transportation or childcare in order to attend.
**When arriving at the event please be sure to use the entrance on Oakland and Allengrove Street.**
