Guided by Jesse, Chris, and Sweet Dee of Resting Point Farms, you'll learn how to make your own "Mushroom Grain Spawn", or mycelium growing on a grain substrate. Mycelium is the root-like anatomy of fungi, consisting of branching white threads, or "hyphae”, the precursor to mushrooms flushing in your garden.
With our live demonstrations of cooking, drying, sterilizing, and inoculating, you’ll become more independent with indoor mushroom cultivation.
We’ll communicate key concepts, demonstrate, and guide your next steps in applying Mushroom Grain Spawn at home. Beginner and intermediate students will advance rapidly with our deep dive into caring for the early life cycle of the fungi kingdom.
You'll take home your own sterilized Mushroom Spawn, jar lid modified for Liquid Culture, and Inoculation tools.
Gourmet and medicinal Mushroom Liquid Cultures will be based on availability, but may include Sporeless Oyster (Rare!), Tarragon Oyster, or Local Elm Oyster.
Bring a notebook and bring your friends! Come early to grab a coffee or local beer on tap at Fifth Season Gardening Co.'s central bar, just a few steps from their classroom. We will take a 15 minute break midway through for more coffee :) See you there!
