Description

My philosophy is "Everything I ever needed to know about business I learned on the sports field." From Behind The Scoreboard, I feature the sports stories that tell us much more than simply who won or lost. These personal and inspiring experiences of grade school, high school, college, other amateur and even pro athletes allow all of us to reflect a little more on what is important in life. ~ James C. Metzger, Chairman and CEO, Whitmore — The Agency _______ A Hockey Uniform Of Stripes Bentley Cyr lives in California. He enjoys playing hockey. He also is a certified referee with USA Hockey and will ref two, three or four games in a day. Bentley is praised for his on-ice professionalism and his focus on calling games. Among his future plans are the creation of a training facility and a camp for young officials. When he wears the striped shirt instead of his team sweater, he inspires other youngsters to pursue officiating as an option to remain engaged in the game. Bentley tells everyone to follow his lead — continue to play hockey, refine skating skills and observe the work of officials at games and on television. Bentley is busy on both sides of the game. He enjoys spending an entire day at the rinks. The perk, he said, is eating a lot of pizza. Bentley is only nine years old. Read more about this young hockey referee in my blog.
