Bassists seeks guitarist

Bass player in Astoria looking for a guitarist or two (male, female, both, or neither) with whom to write songs, with the goal of performing live around the city and documenting the music in some kind of recorded form. You can find recent demos of evolving songs at https://soundcloud.com/broken-beater. My influences and interests vary widely but are mostly indie, noise, postpunk, 1990s, alternative, and so on. Bands like Sonic Youth, Battles, Devo, the Cure, Slint, PJ Harvey, Faust, Wire, Blur, Shellac, and Led Zeppelin, to name a few that get regular spins at my apartment. What excites me is arty, clever, and thoughtful—but still loud and powerful. More recent groups that I like but don’t necessarily resemble sonically include the Walkmen, St. Vincent, and Lana Del Rey. Super new bands that I think are awesome are Yard Act and Feeble Little Horse. I’m in my 40s and work a regular Monday-to-Friday job. An ideal situation for me is a fun, friendly, but serious creative environment in which respectful, challenging collaboration takes place. A drummer and singer/vocalist would be something to consider adding not too far in the future, as songs take shape.
