Hi! I've been busking in various configurations and I've found that so long as there's a killer singer doing unique versions of songs people are familiar with or originals that resonate with people there could be some good $$$ in it. While I know that one person singing over recorded music is a common thing, working in pairs provides additional security, someone to watch stuff while the other uses the bathroom, and you can't go on subway platforms with amplification (platforms can be a good spot especially as trains slow down at night) but we can busk down there with acoustic instruments legally. Get at me! I live downtown, right near the 2nd Ave and Essex St stations, both great busking spots themselves.
