Pentimento | Community Stories: Memoir, Music & Poetry* is a storytelling event featuring the life and times of community leader Linda Jaramillo, in her own words. Audiences will listen to the formative experiences that shaped her resilience, Latina identity, and self-determination, the qualities that distinguish her as a community leader today in Portland, Oregon. Through story and memory, Linda will reflect on the little girl who grew up in a rural community and endured racial segregation at school. She will speak about the inspiration for reclaiming her Latino identity and relearning Spanish in middle adulthood, which ultimately led her to work in advocating for the Latino community. Onstage, as an elder entering her encore years, Linda offers an inner view into her heart as she honors the artistry of her past, share's her hopes for the future, and welcomes us to reflect on the portrait of our own lives. Joining Linda on stage are musicians Gerardo Calderon and Joaquin Lopez, performing Latin American classics in response to her story. Youth actor Emma Fonseca will perform poetic interludes to honor Linda's voice and spirit. Pentimento | Community Stories: Memoir, Music & Poetry is a presentation by musician and artist Joaquin Lopez, who first presented this production on September 10 & 11, 2022, in his official role as Creative Laureate for the City of Portland.** This production is presented by Joaquin Lopez in partnership with Cedar Hills United Church of Christ in Beaverton. The presentation is appropriate for ages 11 and up.
