Project 2020 in partnership with the Town of Boley presents "Self Made", a black history celebration and book launch event featuring author Cj Kirkland, local artist Wes Luster and Sarafina Byrd, and readings from town historian Henrietta Hicks and Senator Kevin Matthews(forward). The event will take place on the evening of February 4, at the Boley Community Center. Attendees will gain a broader understanding of Black History in Oklahoma and the significant role Boley played in our state and the United States sharing and celebrating the stories of men and women who made a difference in our town. Their stories reveal how they contributed to the preservation of Boley...and how we can, too. These events center around community and community building creating converstations about social identities and equity through the arts. These type of events bring a sense of pride,togetherness and serve as the backbone for community sustainability and involvement.
