Description

Our names are Meghan Fessenden and Keelin Cannon and we are working on a DECA project at Beverly High School called the More Than 4% Campaign, a partnership with The Riley Rocks Memorial Foundation. The purpose of our project is to raise awareness and money within our community for families affected by pediatric cancer and spotlighting the underfunding and lack of awareness on childhood cancer globally, and specifically in our community. Out of the 6.9 billion dollars in the federal cancer budget, only 4% of the federal cancer research budget goes towards pediatric cancer, and our goal is to prove that children are worth more than 4%. Rileys Story: The Riley Rocks Memorial Foundation was created in memory of Riley Bridget Fessenden. Riley was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer (Esthesioneuroblastoma) and was declared terminal at age 6. She then went on to fight her battle for 3 years. During those 3 years, Riley became a big inspiration for the Beverly Community and beyond. Shortly after Rileys 9th birthday she tragically passed away. Riley’s loss impacted the lives of many. Riley may have lost her battle, but she has taught us that there is always hope. Riley Rocks Memorial Foundation Mission statement: The Riley Rocks Memorial Foundation grants children and families affected by pediatric cancer with financial support for basic needs and medical expenses, support pediatric cancer-focused research efforts and to educate and raise awareness within the community. If you are interested in buying a table for 10. Please contact [email protected] Tables will be sold for $500. Click here for the Riley Rocks website
