This neon is one of Chicago’s iconic signs previously housed on the famed
Irving Park Rd for over 90 years!
As a belated birthday gift, Billy Corgan’s fiancé, Chloe Mendel, bid on —
and won — a 90-year-old “Chop Suey” sign that has hung outside of a
Chicago Cantonese restaurant called Orange Garden since 1932.
‘Once we acquired this piece of history, we have received an outpouring
of messages from so many amazing people sharing how much they loved
the sign too. I love that Chicagoans are proud of their history, community
and culture and we are here to celebrate that with you’ - Chloé Mendel
Celebrating Chicago’s history and beauty, The Corgan-Mendel family
wanted to keep this beautiful sign here and available for patrons to visit
and admire at their plant based teahouse; Madame ZuZu’s, in Highland
Park. For the first time in decardes, this neon sign has been restored to its
stunning condition and we welcome you to celebrate with us with a
party!
Collaborating with the famed HOP Butcher we will have a limited edition
beer called’ ZuZu’s Winter Garden’ featuring our tropical spiced
clementine tea. Complimentary food, live music from Chicago based
‘Bowmanville’, photo ops and great fun.
Tickets are limited,
We anticipate great interest in this lighting ceremony so please reserve
your tickets for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
