Description

In partnership with and sponsored by the Upper Cumberland Workforce Development Board, UT Center for Industrial Services (UT CIS) will be hosting no cost workshops exploring our Optimized People Development System process. A healthy, engaging workplace is more important than ever before. Such a culture holds the promise of a stable working environment and an atmosphere where people can grow as the organization grows. UT CIS is committed to helping organizations utilize a holistic approach to improve the systems that empower such a culture. The Optimized People Development System (PDS) promotes a systems-thinking approach that helps organizations assess and improve the processes they use to find, train, and retain people. A PDS consists of five functional areas – training, recruiting, onboarding, retention, and performance management. The challenge is to operate a reliable PDS that provides the organization with a competitive advantage in a volatile labor market. Attributes of a Reliable People Development System: Visible and understood by all stakeholders. Connections between the 5 functional areas are effective & constantly monitored for improvement. Provides useful feedback that helps find the right types of talent in a timely manner. Anchored by an effective training program that is documented, repeatable, and measured. Helps individuals reach their own professional goals as well as the organization’s goals. Is unique to each organization. Through the Optimized PDS workshops companies will: Use system thinking to understand how the five areas of the PDS are connected and operate as a system.Understand how internal training practices are at the heart of a strong PDS.Explore how data and specific tools are used to manage a robust PDS. Examine how leadership development plays a critical role in sustaining a reliable PDS.Apply lean practices to identify and eliminate waste in the organization and use lean practices to continuously improve the PDS itself.Employ concepts used to create and sustain a learning organization.
