Description
The episode that I will do my best to describe made such a strong impression on me as a young boy that I remember the basic premise of the story. I am now 62 and would like to watch it again; however, I don’t remember the name of the episode. So if anyone out there is a Twilight zone fan, would you please take a moment to see if you can help. The following is what I remember from watching this episode:
An apartment building. There is a sick woman who is bedridden. Every day she looks at the window and fears that her life will end when the last leaf falls from the branch that is outside the window she looks out of everyday. She becomes more ill as the leaves slowly and one by one, fall of the branch.
An old frail man who lives in the building cares very much for this woman. He is an artist/painter.
To help this woman, he paints a mural of the branch and leaves which look exactly like what the woman sees out her window.
With just a few leaves left on the branch and the woman’s illness becomes more and more grave, he braves the harsh winter weather and using a ladder climbs the building facade to her window and mounts the mural against the window.
The next morning the woman sees that the leaves remain and miraculously is better. However, due to the harsh winter weather and the artist’s advanced age, he ends up falling from the ladder during the night and dies.
My memory of this show has been with me for over 50 years. I am almost positive that it was a twilight zone episode.
Is there a person/persons out there that this resonates with and if so, could you share the name of the episode with me? Does this story line sound familiar to anyone or am I just dreaming this up?
Many many thanks in advance for you help with this.
