1st Annual Chili & Gumbo Cook Off @ Texas City Live Bar & Grill Yummy! Food, drinks , live music! This is an event you don't want to miss! 1st Annual Chili & Gumbo Cook Off Rules & RegulationsRegistration: https://form.jotform.com/210068570204143 **** ABSOLUTELY NO OUTSIDE BEVERAGES WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE VENUE DUE TO TABC RESTRICTIONS. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THESE RULES WILL BE AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION**** 1. Each entry must be prepared from scratch and all ingredients must be in raw form when brought on site. All items MUST be cooked and added on site. (Cutting and chopping may be done ahead of time) 2. Your team may begin cooking after setup is complete. There will be a short COOK'S MEETING @ 10 AM. 3. The Head Cook is responsible for safeguarding the judging cup and matching number ticket. A matching number ticket must be presented to claim winning entry for any category. 4. Entries MUST be prepared in a manner as sanitary as possible. 5. Each spot is a 10x10 area - all props, pop-ups, and any necessary equipment MUST fit into this area. Each team may purchase up to 1 additional spot by registering an additional team with at least one main entry (Bloody Mary is jackpot only). 6. No Electricity or water will be provided. Generators are allowed. 7. Each team can consist of no more than 5 team members (1 head cook and 4 assistants) - these team members will be given arm bands for purchasing alcohol from the bar at Happy Hour pricing during the event. 8. Contestants MUST supply ALL needed equipment and supplies. 9. NO Golf carts or any motorized vehicles allowed inside the fence. Wagons and carts are recommended for unloading and loading of supplies. 10. All entries will be judged on a 9-point scale. 11. TEAMS MUST HAVE A WORKING FIRE EXRINGUISHER IN THEIR SPOT 12. Holes or dug pits not permitted. Any equipment or devices that may damage the surface area of the contest site in any way are prohibited. Ash pan placed under burners are desired, all set up will be on concrete. 13. The HEAD COOK will be held responsible for the conduct of his/her team members. Unacceptable conduct will be grounds for disqualification. 14. It is the responsibility of the contestants to see that their respective area(s) to be kept clean at all times and must provide their own trash receptacles/bags. 15. A dumpster will be on site and each team is responsible for disposing of all trash into the dumpster by a team member. 16. All decisions of the Cook Off Judging will be final. 17. All areas must be clean and equipment moved out by 8 PM - team members gain entry to the concert that evening with their arm band and personal chairs are allowed to remain inside. 18. Entry Fee MUST be paid at time of registration to be considered REGISTERED for the competition. Deadline for entries is NO LATER than Wednesday, February 17th. 19. All contestants must park in the designated area directed to once you have unloaded. 20. Tentative Schedule: 9:00 Team Check-In, 10:00 Head Cook Meeting, 1:00 PM Bloody Mary Turn In, 3:00 PM Chili Turn In, 5:00 PM Gumbo Turn In Awards Immediately following gumbo judging Chili Entries: Beans are allowed if desired. You must be willing to taste your own chili at turn in. Must prepare enough to fill one Styrofoam cup to the top rim. No garnishing or anything other than chili allowed in the cup. All ingredients must be in raw form and cooked on site. Sites are subject to inspection by an organizer. Gumbo Entries: Anything goes - may contain seafood or other proteins. Rice may be turned in if mixed into the gumbo, not dumped in the bottom of the cup prior to pouring. No garnishing on top of the gumbo. Must turn in enough to fill to the rim of the provided Styrofoam cup. Bloody Mary Entries: Absolutely Anything Goes - Get creative and show our judges what you got! May use homemade or premade mixes, alcohol will be provided (no outside alcohol allowed), May garnish the turn in mason jar as desired
