Most farmers intend to keep farming till they drop, but the truth is that 75% of people who reach 65 years old will need long term care at some point in their remaining years. Failing to plan your farm legacy can have major consequences, including the forced sale of your farm. To say the least, farm legacy planning is important, but many farmers postpone planning because it's not urgent or they don't know where to start. In this training, participants will work through several farm succession scenarios, learn about the most common barriers to legacy planning, and identify the best starting points for their legacy planning process. This training will be good for both younger and older farmers and landowners, as legacy planning works best the earlier you start.
