With the subways practically empty and the system constantly being sanitized this is actually a great time to take this tour. You probably ride the NYC subways every week but did you know that before the subways we had miles of elevated tracks in the city? Did you know the very first subway was a pneumatic tube that stretched only a few hundred feet and did you know that the original Penn Station was bigger and more beautiful than Grand Central?? Our tours are designed for people who live, work and play in New York. We give you an opportunity to see the city that surrounds you every day in a totally different light! Join a small group of fun and friendly people for this journey back in time! We will make stops at Penn Station, Grand Central, Union Square, Times Square covering the history of these big hubs plus the history of the entire system. We end the tour with a ride past 2 “ghost” stations including the famous City Hall Station. Some of the things you will see along the way: -Grand Central then and now. -The ghosts stations at 18th and City Hall (ride through) -Amazing remnants of the old Penn Station. -Union Square unearthed. -You will also see fantastic pictures of the subway from its beginning to the famous graffiti cars of the 80’s. Cost: $25 general Members. Includes tour only. You may need to swipe your metro card 2 times during tour. Covid 19 Protocols: Please do not come if you have been exposed. You may cancel up to one week for a refund. Within one week you will be given a credit to use for selected events. We will take temperatures when you arrive. Event limited to 20 people so there is space for everyone to be safe. Face masks must be worn while within close proximity.. Can I come alone? Yes, 98% of those attending this event normally register on their own. You welcome to bring as many non member guests, friends & co workers as you’d like, just make sure to register for the number of people that you want below. Our staff will be ready to greet you and introduce you to others whether you are on your own or with guests. Do I need a ticket? No, We will have you name on our list if you registered and paid. Dress Code: At all events we ask that you use your best judgement based on the event. There are never jackets and ties required unless specifically stated. Keep it neat, be yourself and look your best. We will be inside for95% of the tour. How will I find the group? We will send you a confirmation email with exact locations, contact info and names of those who are hosting the event when you register. We will send follow up emails as we get closer, usually the night before or morning of. Ages: 21+ Most of our events attract 20’s -40’s although some events can skew younger or older (50’s) depending on the event. Some events are clearly age specific as indicated. Who Comes to These?: Our activities attract NY Professionals from all backgrounds and professions who are looking to expand their social circles. You will also find others who are looking to learn something, network for business, try something they have never done before or enjoy something they love doing but can’t get their friends to do.
