Description

This class is intended for healthcare providers that will be performing a physical exam on a newborn baby. Objectives: Identify maternal risk factors and implications for the fetus and newborn. Describe physiologic changes/observations that define readiness and success of extra-uterine adaptations. Determine risk factors for hypothermia, hypoglycemia, and hyperbilirubinemia and establish a plan of preventive care. Describe the process for a systematic, head to toe newborn physical examination. Apply critical thinking process for nursing care plan development based on various common and uncommon physical assessment findings.
