Back-up Drummer needed for Cover Band

Meets

Minneapolis MN

Description

Hi there, Our band Heavy for the Hawk would like to find someone that is willing to be a back up drummer. We love our drummer, and he isn't going anywhere, however he is going back to school and is very busy. Here's what we are looking for: He's only able to practice every other week, and we like to try to practice every week. We want to find someone that is open to practicing with us on his off weeks. We typically practice on Tuesdays. Roughly from 7-10, but there needs to be some flexibility. Our thought with this is then the back-up will stay up to speed with our songs (and there for any new one's we add) by having practice with us once to twice a month. There's no promise that this back-up drummer will actually do any gigs with us, but with his schedule we are pretty confident a gig will come up that he won't be able to do, and we don't want to have to turn one down because of that, so that's why we are here. We try to gig once to twice a month. One thing about our band is we aren't really a typical cover band. We do try to do a lot of songs that you don't always hear from cover bands. We range from Indie to soul, to oldies, to rock, etc. Our website actually has an up to date list of every song we do: www.heavyforthehawk.com We are most active on FB & Instagram if you want to check out our social media. Or we also have a gig coming up 12-17 at Gluek's in downtown Minneapolis if you'd like to see us live. Our main goal with this band is making music we love, with people that are fun to do it with. We like to have fun at practice and are all pretty ADHD, but we make a good product. Our age range is from 26 to 45 and we would like to stick within that range. We practice in our basement in SW Minneapolis (basically Edina) and we have a practice kit, so you really only need to bring your sticks. It's not a fancy kit at all, but it does the trick. When I say "our", the two lead singers are a couple and are the founders of this band. We do have 3 kids in the house while we practice, but they are cool kids (18, 14 & 13) and also a dog and 2 cats. We'd probably start with an "interview" of sorts and then give the candidate a list of songs to learn. Then come and join us for a practice and see if it's a fit. If this sounds good to you and you don't want the commitment of a full band, but miss jamming and possibly some occasional gigs here and there, check us out!! Heavy for the Hawk
