“Sound healing,” or “sound meditation,” carries many meanings -- depending on who you ask. In essence, working consciously with sound is a means of “balancing vibration” or “balancing energy.” When we relate to sound and music consciously, we access a powerful tool for aligning ourselves in mind, body and spirit. This workshop (part demonstration, presentation, Q&A) will provide both practical methods and esoteric perspectives on the relationship between sound, silence, vibration and consciousness. We will be exploring: Three fundamental categories of sound-based therapies (traditional, physiological, and intuitive approaches). What are “healing frequencies” and do they matter? (Tuning systems, 432 hz, Schumann Resonance, Overtones, Solfeggio Frequencies, etc.) What constitutes a sound healing or meditation instrument? The power of the Word (thoughts, speech, prayers, invocations, mantras, etc.). The relationship between the facilitator and the receiver (passive and active listening, group participation, guided meditation, etc.) Notes, colors, and chakra associations Creating a space/container for healing and meditation Length of workshop: 1 - 1.5 hours, depending on participant interaction. Cost of attendance: $20-25 sliding scale This is the suggested minimum donation, however nobody is turned away for lack of funds. Presenter bio: Adrian DiMatteo is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and a student of world wisdom traditions and indigenous cultures. For over 20 years, he has studied and traveled the globe - exploring sound, language, musical culture, and how they affect individual and collective wellbeing. With a holistic approach to science and consciousness, he offers a closer look at how sound itself can impact life.
