You are invited to join us for our 2nd Annual Holiday Toy Drive benefitting Foster Care Advocacy Center clients! At any given time, there are more than 4,000 Harris County children in foster care who spend an average of 750 days in the state-run system. Each year more than 2,000 children are removed from their families, primarily from certain zip codes of largely minority and low-income populations. The mission of Foster Care Advocacy Center is to provide holistic advocacy inside and outside the courtroom for children and parents involved in the child welfare system. FCAC is the first nonprofit law office in Texas that employs a multidisciplinary model of representation where staff, social workers, and staff attorneys work together to provide holistic legal representation for children and parents. In the last year, FCAC represented over 200 parent and child clients. While the attorneys focus on legal issues, the social services team works to assess placements, help individuals connect with community-based services, and facilitate family connections. And we invite you to join us in creating a more just foster care system by making the holiday season bright for children with child welfare involvement.
