The band released its self-titled debut album in 1975, but its popularity skyrocketed in 1978 with the release of its fourth studio album, Infinity, which was the first to feature iconic vocalist Steve Perry. While "Open Arms" was the most popular song when first released, "Don't Stop Believin'" has become an international anthem that remains popular more than three decades later. Through lineup changes and hiatuses, Journey has prevailed, and the group's albums continue to reach the charts. Its most recent album, Eclipse, debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Journey has released more than 50 singles since its formation in 1973. The band's Journey along the way is nothing short of shocking, as only Neal Schon, who provides lead guitar and backing vocals, has been a member since its formation. Original bassist Ross Valory was fired in 1985, but returned in 1995 and remains a member of Journey to this day. In 2005, Journey was given a star as part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. Due to the extensive lineup changes, two drummers and two keyboardists were inducted as members of Journey.
