Description

This event will take place in person at The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, located at 515 Malcolm X Boulevard and the corner of West 135th St. Emerging actors can join us for this free workshop to learn how to create an audition tape using the Library for the Performing Arts’ Tech Kits. Using her expertise in what makes a good audition tape, casting director Sujotta Pace will lead this workshop with the equipment in the Tech Kits to help actors highlight their skills and talent in the best possible light. Pace will also talk about what casting directors are looking for, and the tools needed to empower actors to put their best foot forward. The workshop is a collaboration between the Library for the Performing Arts and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, both research libraries at the New York Public Library. Participants should come prepared to the workshop ready to record a monologue or song (no longer than 90 seconds) that they feel comfortable performing. Please RSVP as space is limited. Once the event is sold out, we will add a waitlist and contact people who sign up if spots are made available. Sujotta Pace is a casting professional, actress, stage manager, writer, and activist, who holds a B.F.A from North Carolina A&T State University and is an M.F.A. acting candidate at Florida Atlantic University. Currently a casting Associate at the Roundabout Theatre Company, she has also worked at Actors Theatre of Louisville as the Professional Training Company & Casting Coordinator. Pace produced the Professional Training Company's Solo Mio Projects and New Play Projects featuring works by all 18 acting apprentices and playwrights, including Alexis Scheer, Jane B. Jones, and Lisa Sanaya Dring. GUESTS Please note that there is no food or drinks allowed anywhere in the Schomburg Center.
